Friedrich Vogler was born on 10 September 1869. He was put into institutional care because of his schizophrenia; from 1936 to 1941, he was a resident at the Samaritan Institutions Fürstenwalde/Spree in Ketschendorf. In 1941, he was transferred to the State Sanatorium and Mental Hospital in Bernburg on the River Saale – via the mental institutions in Wittenau and Neuruppin – with a collective transport that was part of “Aktion T4”, a mass-murder campaign targeting sick and disabled people. In Bernburg, he was murdered in the euthanasia programme’s killing centre.
