Erika Hagelke was born on 3 May 1920. She was a resident at the Samaritan Institutions Fürsten­walde/Spree in Ketschendorf. In the course of “Aktion T4”, a mass-murder cam­paign involving the involuntary eutha­nasia of sick and disabled people, she was transferred – via a number of other institutions – to the State Sanatorium and Mental Hospital in Bernburg on the River Saale. She was mur­dered there in the eutha­nasia pro­gramme’s killing centre on 7 March  1940.
